So I jump ship in Hong Kong and I make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas.
A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-lagunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice. Carl Spackler

Standings have been updated through our last event at Tashua. Please doublecheck any dropped scores to keep me honest (never said I was the smartest kid in class).
Looks like an exciting finish as usual. Every Stableford point starting in April and all the way up to the next event all count the same in the final standings.
Also please be sure to enter all rounds you are playing outside of Poc Fada. Every dot counts as well.

Andy can't brag about his chip in bridie so I will, it was the best golf shot I have seen this year, and I went to the US Open at Shinnecock. Great time all and what a blast sharing a cart with Gerry.
On Sunday August 9th 2026, Poc Fada had an event at Grassy Hills CC in Orange. We had 20 guys until Durland sprained his knee brushing his teeth that morning so 19 of us headed out starting at 11:10 AM. The pro shop screwed up and didn't have any of our tee times listed, but lucky for us some other group canceled all 5 of the tee times at our same exact times. WTF?? Those guys are wacked. Anyway, it was hotter than Hades out there and nobody croaked - so that's good. I burned my ass on the cart seat a few times. "Park in the shade Danno!!" (There was no shade)
Some memorable moments:
Danny Ryan almost hit Gerry O'Donovan twice, both times on the 3rd hole. (with his golf ball not his fist)
Gary, Hogan, T Hull and Neil almost killed a twosome who was asking them to speed up play - on the 18th fuckin hole.
A few guys came out with some great low rounds. Carcusa with an 84, Buckley with an 82 and INZITARI with a POC FADA COURSE RECORD 77.
STABLEFORD POINTS winner went to Carcusa with a 38 (also a Poc Fada course record) and Inzi was a close 2nd with 37.
CLOSEST TO THE PINS went to Jeremy on 3rd, Buck on 6th, Nobody on that godforsaken 10th, and Macko on both the 13th and the 17th holes.
BIRDIES - Saunders on 5th (LOOONG Par 5), Andy on 7th (chip in), Inzi on 4th & 14th, Paul on 6th (looong downhiller on the volcano hole), Buck on 7th, Jeremey on 3rd.
Next event is with Ken and Lou at Tashua on Sunday 8/23.

Good morning gentlemen,
What a great day yesterday was beautiful weather just fabulous group of guys enjoying a fun round of golf with a few dipshits (Retcho & myself).. As usual the 19th hole was by far the best happening of the event. There was some very touching moments with the passing of Andy’s brother Mark who was loved by many. Also very funny moments as always with the clan. On to the golf and man was it hot out there in the Poc Fada clan we had Gerry just lighting up the scoreboard with a blistering 82 and 40 points followed by Saunders with an 82 with 39 points followed by Andy with another 82 and 38 points great stuff gentleman. On to the closest to the pins Gerry just about became the first member with a HIO in and event on 4 hitting one to an astonishing 3” heard it was even closer then Neil on 8 Marc on 12 and Andy on 15 great job gents. Finally the birdies were a falling as well 14 in total unbelievable play by all we had Andy Marc Neil and Dan all with 2 we had Gerry Inzitari Paul Saunders and myself all with one.
Great day great guys great fun looking forward to next event the Joe Mcguigan Ryder cup. Be well all and thanks for making poc fada great again

Recap - Sunday 5/3- the Wheel Black-
The group gathered on Sunday, May 3rd at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course for a packed and competitive outing that featured a full field of 24 golfers. The group was rounded out by four guests—Jack Lynch, Jack Jr. Lynch, Andy’s son Henry, and his friend Ungar—adding to both the competition and the camaraderie of the day.
Conditions proved to be a true test. While temperatures climbed from the low 50s into the mid-60s under partly sunny skies, a steady and at times gusty wind was a major factor throughout the round. Club selection was tricky all day, and the impact showed clearly in the scores.
On the leaderboard, Macko and Gerry O both posted strong Stableford rounds of 33 points. With the tie at the top, the overall victory went to Macko, with the tiebreak decided on the hardest handicap hole.
In gross scoring, Inzi handled the conditions best, carding a low round of 85—an impressive number given the wind.
The par-3s played especially tough, making the Closest to the Pin winners stand out: Hull on #3, Keith on #7, Buck on #11, and Dan on #17.
The Birdie Parade featured a few bright spots despite the conditions: Jack on #2, Inzi on #9, Neil on #10, and both Dan and Gary on #17.
All in all, it was a full and competitive outing, with challenging weather, strong performances, and a great group that made for another memorable day at Fairchild Wheeler.
Recap from Orange Hills - Shout out to Retcho for getting the tee times!
It was a nice day at Orange Hills, conditions were in good shape, had 20 golfers out there taking it on. Consensus was that the greens were in good shape, pin placements were diabolical, at the edges of the greens and we all had to deal with sloping greens that had a hard time holding shots. This is a course that would see significantly better scores if we knew the layout better, where the trouble was, and where to try and land the approach shots. Cart path only role sucked though! And every other hole seemed like a damned dogleg. On the whole, I wouldn't mind taking another crack at it.
Food for thought for any consideration for a future event here - planning ahead to order pizzas would have been a good idea since they didn't have their kitchen running. That's on me for being a dumbass. Good thing we drank dinner.
Birdies were in short supply, only two on the day: Macko on the 377 yard par four 14th and Neil on the 481 yard par five 2nd hole. Nice work, gents!
Closest to the pins were sub Hank Carlson on 3, Craig on 9, Retcho on 10 (bogey) and Johnny Mac on 13.
Stableford winners was a tie between Gerry O and Inzi with 34. Shout out to Lou (31 points) and Johnny Mac (30 points) as the only other guys to crack 30
Low Gross was Inzi with an 81, great round.
Looking forward to the next round at the Wheel Black on 5/10.
Chad birdied 3 with a great tee shot and sinking a 20 foot putt as well!

Today is opening day for the CT State Golf Association as well as Poc Fada Golf Club to enter scores so if any of you golf nuts are playing today or this weekend be sure to enter those scores….good or bad as long as you are following the rules of golf for the round. If you are still playing rounds and not following the rules of golf and are taking mulligans, extended gimme putts, scramble format, etc that is fair as well this early in the season and no scores need to be entered.
